How long does it take to become a Vet Tech?
Any person that is planning to take a course in the veterinary technologists asks the question, how long does it take to become a Vet Tech? The answer to this question will actually depend on the program that you are interested in pursuing and the animal that you are interested to work with.
If you are seeking for a basic degree in Vet Tech and are attending classes full time then the course should take you two years. If you cannot devote all your time to the course then it will take longer depending on the time you give each class. For instance, if you can only take a single class at a time for an associate degree, it may take you several years than the normal two to complete the entire program.
If you are wishing to pursue a bachelors degree in Vet Tech and are willing to devote all your time to the program then it shall take you four years to complete the program. Of course, if you are not able to attend to the classes on full time basis the course is able to take longer than four years.
If you are able to devote more time to the courses like attending to classes online the programs may take less than two years for the associate degree and less than four years for the bachelors’ degree program.
Incase you are interested in specializing in a certain animal, such as reptiles or birds, then you might be required to take on additional course work in these areas. In this case, it may take you longer to complete the course once again.
